back in cinemas. The filmmaker has re-released the blockbuster as a single, re-edited version titled Baahubali: The Epic, combining both films into one seamless theatrical experience.
The revamped version promises remastered visuals and audio along with a bit of fresh content, giving fans a chance to relive the journey of Mahishmati on the big screen. The film hit U.S. theatres on 31 October 2025 and has arrived in India to a huge wave of excitement.
Baahubali: The Epic opened to a big start in India on Day 1, booking a Rs 9.25 crore (net) opening and pushing worldwide earnings to Rs 14 crore. However, early momentum slowed on Day 2. As per Sacnilk estimates, the film made Rs 7.1 crore on Saturday, marking a 26.42% drop.
The regional breakdown shows where audiences turned up the most. Telugu theatres contributed Rs 4.75 crore, Hindi earned Rs 1.65 crore, Tamil brought Rs 0.5 crore, while Malayalam saw Rs 0.17 crore and Kannada Rs 0.03 crore. With this, the India total now stands at Rs 17.9 crore, and global collections have reached Rs 27.85 crore.
Telugu Audience Leads Occupancy
On Saturday, the Telugu version recorded the highest occupancy at 53.04%. Tamil screens held steady with 40.43%, while the Hindi version posted 14.90%, showing a slower uptick.
In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha recently, Rana Daggubati, who portrayed the formidable antagonist Bhallaladeva in the film opened up on how it changed his life. “I think it’s not just me. I think Baahubali changed the life of every filmmaker in this country and every film audience in this country. The audience too – the way they watch things, make things. Everything changed, and now it’s a decade since the first film’s release, and it’s coming back,” said Rana.
Baahubali follows Shivudu, a young man raised far away from the kingdom of Mahishmati, who discovers his true identity as Mahendra Baahubali, son of the beloved warrior-king Amarendra Baahubali. Through his journey, he learns about the royal rivalry between his father and Bhallaladeva, who betrayed Amarendra, seized the throne and imprisoned Queen Devasena. Guided by the loyal commander Katappa, Mahendra returns to Mahishmati to end Bhallaladeva’s brutal rule. He leads an uprising, avenges his father’s murder, frees Devasena and restores justice to the kingdom, fulfilling the legacy of Baahubali as the rightful king.
