Jana Nayagan marks Vijay’s final film before his full-fledged entry into politics. The film hit theatres worldwide on July 23, 2026, after its release was pushed from the original January 9 date due to certification
delays. According to the latest update by directer H Vinoth, six deleted scenes will now be added to Jana Nayagan from next week.
New Scenes Added To Jana Nayagan
During the success meet of Jana Nayagan in Chennai on Monday, director H Vinoth treated fans to an exciting update about the film. Revealing that six scenes were left out of the final cut, he said the team is now considering adding them back to the theatrical version from next week.
“There are six scenes that we had deleted. There are two fun (comedy) scenes featuring sir (Vijay), two action scenes and two other emotional scenes,” Vinoth shared.
Speaking about when fans can expect to watch them, he said the decision rests with the producers. However, when the host joked that the final call should be his, the director replied, “No, I am ready. We will think about adding them from next week or so.”

News18 gave the film three stars. An excerpt from the Jana Nayagan review read, “Vijay delivers exactly what his fans expect from him, which is both good and bad. As always, he commands the screen with effortless charisma, emotional conviction and his trademark style that has made him one of Tamil cinema’s biggest stars. But it starts feeling like a trope as it doesn’t necessarily offer anything particularly new or surprising.”
It added, “Technically, Jana Nayagan may have moments of grandeur but the visual scale cannot compensate for weak writing. A political drama requires powerful ideas, strong characters and engaging conflicts. This one has a message in bold but it does not have the cinematic strength to deliver that message effectively. Yet, despite its shortcomings, the film succeeds where it perhaps matters most. It may not rank among Vijay’s finest films but it understands its true purpose. It isn’t merely trying to tell a story. It’s bidding farewell to an era. In celebrating the hero, the man and the phenomenon, Jana Nayagan becomes a fitting curtain call for Thalapathy Vijay and a nostalgic tribute to the countless years he has spent entertaining millions.”
