Movies with longer runtimes are back in theatres. While some time ago, directors would fear making movies longer than two hours, things have changed drastically in recent times, with films like Pushpa,
Animal, and Dhurandhar taking over the screens and the box office. Joining this elite club is Riteish Deshmukh ’s upcoming action thriller Raja Shivaji, based on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
CBFC gives UA certificate to Raja Shivaji
As per Bollywood Hungama, Raja Shivaji has joined the list of films with longer runtimes, with the Riteish Deshmukh starrer being 3 hours, 15 minutes and 5 seconds, i.e., 195.05 minutes long. As per the portal, the movie has been cleared by the CBFC, with the board giving the film a UA certificate.
However, the film had to undergo a few modifications as per the advice of the Examining Committee (EC). The committee has asked the makers to add clarification about the title and demanded a modified disclaimer with more clarity. It has been reported that only two minor cuts have been made in the movie. The visuals showing a young boy’s throat being slit were requested to be replaced with a more appropriate shot. Additionally, the makers were instructed to include audio for the previously muted visuals.

In 1664, Shivaji conducted the first sack of Surat, a major Mughal port city, disrupting imperial trade.
