Records Broken By Pathum Nissanka
In fact, it was the first hundred scored against Australia in a T20 World Cup game. The previous highest was Umar Akmal’s 94 in Mirpur in 2014.
Nissanka’s unbeaten 100 edged out Mahela Jayawardene’s 100 against Zimbabwe in 2010, as the highest individual score for a Sri Lanka batter in T20 World Cup matches.
It was also the joint fastest T20I hundred, matyching his own effort from last year, when he smashed a hundred in 52 balls against India. The record belongs to Kusal Perera, who got there in 44 deliveries against New Zealand in 2025.
