Mumbai’s metro network has expanded significantly, with MMRDA rolling out a revised, commuter-friendly timetable from April 8, 2026. Two new routes are now open, existing lines have been reorganised, and travel
between the western suburbs and beyond just got a lot more seamless.
Here’s everything you need to know before you step out.
What’s New From April 8?
• Metro Line 9 (Dahisar East to Kashigaon) is now open — bringing the first-ever metro service to Thane district
• Metro Line 2B Phase 1 (Mandale to Diamond Garden, Chembur) is now open — giving the Harbour Line area its first metro connectivity
• Lines 2A and 7 now operate separately, with Line 7 extended and integrated with Line 9
Your Line-by-Line Guide
Metro Line 2A (Yellow Line) — Andheri West to Dahisar East
Now a standalone route, running smoother and more frequently than before.
Metro Lines 7 + 9 (Joint Corridor) — Gundwali to Kashigaon
Line 7 now runs all the way through to Kashigaon via the new Line 9 stretch. This means direct, uninterrupted travel between Andheri East and Mira-Bhayander — no changes, no hassle.
Total route length: 19.79 km
Metro Line 2B Phase 1 — Mandale (Maharashtra Nagar) to Diamond Garden, Chembur
Chembur commuters, your wait is over. This new corridor plugs the Harbour Line area into the metro grid for the first time.
Total route length: 5.38 km
Seamless Interchange At Dahisar — No Need To Exit
Travelling between Line 2A and the Line 7/9 corridor? You can switch at Dahisar station without stepping outside — a major convenience for commuters heading across the network.
What This Means For You
• Shorter waits — a train every 6 minutes in peak hours
• Metro now reaches Thane district and the Harbour Line belt
• Direct travel from Andheri East all the way to Kashigaon on a single line
• A simpler, easier-to-follow timetable across all routes
