The ICC has clarified that the T20 World Cup 2026 venues for the knockout matches may change depending on the teams that qualify, with special arrangements in place if Pakistan advances to the semifinals
or the final.
Tickets for the semifinals and final went on sale on Tuesday, and the International Cricket Council (ICC) has assured fans that full refunds will be provided if matches are shifted from their originally designated venues. Kolkata is currently scheduled to host the first semifinal, Wankhede Stadium the second semifinal while the final will be held in Ahmedabad.
However, the first semifinal has been placed under a floating venue arrangement and may be played either at Eden Gardens in Kolkata or at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. If Pakistan qualifies for the semifinals, the team will play the first semifinal in Colombo on March 4.
Similarly, if Sri Lanka qualifies and faces a team other than India in the semifinal, the match will also be shifted to Colombo, with ticket holders eligible for refunds. If India faces Sri Lanka, the match will remain in Kolkata as scheduled.
If Pakistan reach the final, then it will be played in Colombo.
Fans can book tickets for the first semifinal on March 4, the second semifinal on March 5, and the final on March 8.
Pakistan’s chances of reaching the semifinals remain uncertain. Their opening Super 8 match against New Zealand was abandoned due to rain, while England’s victory in another match has further complicated Pakistan’s qualification prospects. Pakistan must win their final Super 8 fixture against Sri Lanka and will still depend on other results and net run rate to secure a semifinal berth.
