Pearls have been having a major moment in the past year, and it seems that things are only looking up from here. It has moved away from just being used in jewellery. From Lucy Liu’s pearl-encrusted pumps to Queen Elizabeth II’s favourite pearl brooch she wore at Christmas and more, the trend has gone further than the ordinary.
So it is no wonder that Sara Ali Khan, when she jumped on the trend, would also wear something striking.

Manish Malhotra shared a few photos of Sara Ali Khan in his exquisite ivory lehenga. Talking about the outfit and all the work that went into making this masterpiece, Manish Malhotra wrote, “Sara Ali Khan in our Signature #pearlstory the way I love them —refined, chic, and full of emotion. A signature encrusted #MMblouse,drape and a godet skirt all hand-sewn pearl by pearl with Swarovski crystals across the ensemble. Sara wore an ivory lehenga with a mermaid skirt. It was dripping in pearls and crystals, which screams ‘refined’ and ‘chic’, while making anyone who wears it the centre of attention. The backless blouse with more pearl detailing is bound to make people turn their heads and notice.
To allow the outfit to capture the spotlight, Sara wore her hair up in a classic updo. A few wisps of her hair hung in front of her face, giving the entire look a romantic vibe. Sara’s glam was soft yet tied the entire outfit together without looking too heavy. She added a few rings and a diamond studs to round it off.
Janhvi Kapoor rocks a similar Manish Malhotra pearl lehenga
It is clear that Manish Malhotra has embraced the pearl style, as towards the end of last year, Janhvi Kapoor was also seen in a similar look.
Styled by Meagan Concessio, Janhvi Kapoor wore a cream lehenga by the renowned designer. Her outfit can be broken down into three parts – her voluminous skirt with nude underlayer and leaf embroidery, a blouse made of layers of pearls and a skinny dupatta that is also embellished with pearls. The neutral base comes alive with floral thread embroidery in leaf motifs, further elevated with clusters of pearls and tonal stones.
