Mirzapur: The Movie is one of the most anticipated films of the year, and while the film is all set to release in September, there is a big update on Mirzapur the series. As per an update, the show has

been renewed for yet another season, and the scripting has already begun, but the plot remains under wraps.

Mirzapur 4 on the cards

Director Gurmmeet Singh confirmed to Variety India that “The scripting is on,” and added, “What I can say is it’s being scripted, and we’re really looking forward to that as well.”

While Season 4 will be his next big directorial project after completing his work on the film, the film now occupies the centre of the franchise’s creative roadmap. Hence, Gurmmeet can’t discuss the next season without giving away spoilers.

Sharing the planning for Season 4 of the series, the director said that the production schedule is still being worked out, mainly because bringing together the franchise’s large ensemble cast is a major challenge.

“I’m sure the planning in the back rooms is all on, and they would know because it’s also such a big cast roster. Things need to be planned well in advance. So I guess right now they’re not bothering us with that because they want us to focus on the film. I think closer to when the film is done and handed over, that conversation will pick up speed again,” Singh shared.

All About Mirzapur: The Movie

Continuing the timeline established in the show’s debut season in 2018, Mirzapur: The Movie promises an epic untold story crafted specifically for a theatrical experience. Joining the ensemble are Ravi Kishan, Jitendra Kumar, and Sonal S. Chauhan, while fan-favourite characters return with performances from Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu, Rasika Dugal, Abhishek Banerjee, Mohitt Malik, Sheeba Chadha, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Harshita Shekhar Gupta, and Shweta Tripathi.

Mirzapur: The Movie is presented by Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment. Directed by Gurmmeet Singh, written by Puneet Krishna, and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under Excel Entertainment, and co-produced by Kassim Jagmagia and Vishal Ramchandani, the film is slated for a grand theatrical release on September 4, 2026. Bringing the bhaukaal to an even wider audience, Mirzapur: The Movie will be released in Hindi and Telugu.
