In a joint security operation is underway in Delhi’s Narela, rocket launchers linked to two suspected terrorists arrested in Manipur, were destroyed in a controlled exercise.
The operation involves the
Army, the Special Cell of the Delhi Police and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), sources said on Wednesday.
What Was Recovered In Manipur?
The rocket launchers were recovered during a joint search operation in Manipur in connection with the case involving the two suspected terrorists.
The weapons were subsequently brought to Delhi for examination and disposal.
According to sources, the recovery formed part of a larger cache containing arms, ammunition and explosive material.
The cache included rifles, hundreds of rounds of live ammunition, detonators and other explosive material. The weapons are now being dealt with by specialised teams as part of the ongoing operation in Narela.
Controlled Disposal Underway
The rocket launchers and other recovered material are being disposed of in a controlled manner. The exercise is being carried out jointly by specialised teams from the Army, Delhi Police Special Cell and FSL. The operation is focused on the safe disposal of the weapons recovered during the Manipur search operation.
Security arrangements have also been put in place around the area in Narela as the disposal exercise continues.
The operation comes after the recovery of the weapons and explosive material in Manipur in connection with the case involving the two suspected terrorists arrested there.
PTI sources said the weapons were brought to the national capital specifically for examination and disposal.
The specialised teams are carrying out the exercise as part of the security operation, with arrangements made around the site. The recovered cache included rocket launchers, rifles, hundreds of rounds of live ammunition, detonators and other explosive material, all of which were seized during the joint search operation in Manipur.
