Name carving is not a new habit in India. From school desks and public toilets to even walls of a historic monument, people have long left behind marks of ownership that instantly raise concerns of civic
sense. And now, this habit has travelled thousands of feet above the ground.
Recently, a Reddit post caught widespread attention that showed something many would have never seen before. The images did not show broken seats or litter but a name etched into the window pane of an aircraft. Yes, you read that right.
Name Etched On Window Glass Of Plane
The Reddit post shared two images taken inside a flight. The photos showed the name “Manvik” carved clearly on the window glass near a passenger seat. The Redditor who uploaded the images did not hold back and openly condemned the act.
“Some idiot craved his name on window glass of a flight! Have seen name cravings on walls of public toilets and other places but first time on a flight. Wonder how much more idiocy left in this Manvik guy,” the user wrote while sharing the pictures.

Images Trigger Sharp Reactions On Reddit
As the post circulated, many users shared similar reactions with one user commenting, “If it’s an adult who has done it, shame on them. If it’s a kid, who did it and who was accompanied by an adult, shame on them for allowing it to happen. Some parents who travel with kids and teens are absolutely inconsiderate of other passengers! They think other passengers have to adjust their comfort and paid seats to accommodate their kids.”
Another suggested, “It is serious issue. Please report it to cabin crew.”
“At this point, it feels hereditary, the urge to carve your name everywhere. If not plane windows, it would’ve been cave walls,” someone else remarked.
“The guy who wrote this should be banned from flying ever again,” a person demanded.
An individual wondered, “But how did he do it? No sharp objects allowed on board, bruh he could carve into glass whatever tool he used was illegally present,” while another questioned, “How could anyone pull this without attracting fellow passenger/cabin crew attention??”
“Well, they could always check if a boarding pass was issued against that seat and name to identify the person with a similar name and can then identify the culprit,” a Reddit user wrote.
Meanwhile, a section of users felt that the carving did not read “Manvik” but “Manvi K,” hinting at the possibility that a child may have done it.
