Nivin Pauly’s cult classic romantic drama Premam makes a comeback at the theatres. Originally released on May 29, 2015, the film has been re-released after more than 10 years.
The makers of Premam took
to social media to make the announcement. Premam re-releases at the theatres today, February 13.
Premam Re-Releases After 10 Years
Previously, the makers shared a poster of the film to make the official announcement. “Mollywood’s cult classic PREMAM is re-releasing on this Valentine’s Day; celebrating love on the big screen. Fall in love with it all over again,” the announcement read.
What Do We Know About Premam?
Directed by Alphonse Puthren, Premam is a coming-of-age romantic drama starring Nivin Pauly and Sai Pallavi in the lead roles. The film follows the story of George David’s romantic journey with his friends from their teens to adulthood.
During his school days, George falls in love with Mary, his neighbour, only to find out that she is already in love with someone else, ironically, a person with the same name. Years later, he develops feelings for his visiting professor, Malar, only to be unlucky in love once again. George’s romantic journey takes him through different stages, helping him to find his purpose.
Alongside Nivin Pauly and Sai Pallavi, the film also features Madonna Sebastian and Anupama Parameswaran as co-leads. Alongside the main cast, the film also includes Krishna Shankar, Shabareesh Varma, Siju Wilson, Ananth Nag, Vinay Forrt, Soubin Shahir and Anju Kurian, among others, in other prominent roles.
After its release, the film emerged as a major commercial success and attained cult classic status among fans. As per reports, the film grossed Rs 73 crore during its initial run at the box office.
Nivin Pauly on the Work Front
Nivin Pauly was last seen in Arun Varma’s Baby Girl. The film follows the story of Sanal Mathew, a medical attendant who comes under suspicion after a baby goes missing from the hospital where he works.
As he faces mounting pressure, Mathew appears to steer the police investigation in unexpected directions. Alongside Nivin Pauly, the film also stars Sangeeth Prathap, Lijomol Jose, Abhimanyu Shammi Thilakan, Aditi Ravi, Azees Nedumangad and Aswanth Lal in other important roles.
