Elon Musk caught the attention of Indian social media in an unusual way when he recently shared an interaction with Grok, the AI assistant from his company xAI. In it, he sent an image of Lord Ganesha,
a deity widely worshipped widely among Hindus.
Musk shared a screenshot of the conversation where he asked Grok to identify the image of Lord Ganesha. Grok used its image recognition capabilities to analyse the statue and respond in detail.

In the post, Musk uploaded the image and asked, “What is this?” The AI responded with a description of the statue, highlighting key features and the context of Lord Ganesha.
How Grok Identified Lord Ganesha
Grok analysed the image and identified it as “a small brass or bronze statue of Lord Ganesha, a widely revered Hindu deity.”
In key features, the AI chatbot mentioned an elephant head with a single tusk, four arms holding traditional items like a modak (sweet), an ankush (goad) and a broken tusk. The AI also noted the seated posture on a lotus base with a prabhavali (decorative arch) and the mouse (mooshak) at the feet, which is Ganesha’s vehicle.
The AI further explained, “Ganesha is known as the remover of obstacles, the god of beginnings, wisdom, and prosperity. Such idols are commonly used in home shrines (puja rooms) for daily worship. This appears to be a traditional South Indian-style brass murti, likely placed on a wooden pedestal against a red backdrop.”
