Big news for Aadhaar cardholders! Starting November 1, 2025, updating your Aadhaar will be as easy as a few clicks. You’ll no longer need to stand in long queues or visit an enrolment centre for updates.
Whether it’s your name, address, date of birth, or mobile number, everything can now be edited online from the comfort of your home.
These new rules aim to make Aadhaar services faster, simpler, and far more secure and user-friendly.
Key Change 1: Updating Aadhaar Information
Previously, you had to go to an Aadhaar Seva Kendra for any correction or update. Now, the entire process can be done online.
Your submitted details, like name or address, will be automatically verified with official government documents such as your PAN card, passport, driving licence, or ration card, ensuring a faster and more secure update process.
Updated Fee Structure
- Rs 75 for updating name, address, or mobile number
- Rs 125 for updating fingerprints, iris scan, or photograph
- Free biometric updates for children aged 5 to 7 years and 15 to 17 years
- Free online document updates until June 14, 2026, after which it will cost Rs 75 at an enrolment centre
- Rs 40 for Aadhaar reprint requests
- Home enrolment service: Rs 700 for the first individual and Rs 350 for each additional person at the same address
Key Change 2: Aadhaar-PAN Linking Mandatory
Every PAN holder must link their PAN card with Aadhaar by December 31, 2025. Failure to do so will result in PAN becoming inactive from January 1, 2026, making it unusable for financial or tax-related purposes.
New PAN card applicants will also require Aadhaar verification as part of the process.
Key Change 3: Simplified KYC Process
The Know Your Customer (KYC) procedure for banks and financial institutions has been made simpler. You can now complete KYC through:
- Aadhaar OTP verification
- Video KYC
- Face-to-face verification
This makes the process completely paperless and time-efficient.
Why These Changes Matter
These updates will make Aadhaar management significantly easier and save valuable time for users. The ability to update details from home adds convenience, while tighter verification ensures data safety.
However, the Aadhaar-PAN linking deadline is crucial. Missing it could lead to financial inconveniences later. To avoid issues, ensure your Aadhaar and PAN are linked promptly and keep your documents ready for online verification.
According to UIDAI, these measures aim to enhance both convenience and security for citizens.
