Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan has said that he is in ‘great distress’ because of the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026. In his recent blog, Big B shared his views on the ongoing tournament and stated
how they never get to know about the ‘best team’ till the very end.
“The timelines and the idea of time has gone awry. The reason of course is the WC 2026, times to see are weird and makes our days even worse but we see we cheer we have remorse and we see with great distress the unfair decisions being made for one and not for the other and we get excited over the victories of those Countries that we had never imagined would make it to the WC challenge (sic),” Amitabh Bachchan wrote.
“Most of the renowned and well known Football countries have with great regret lost, that is surprising. But elated by the fact that those we never imagined have given fight and gained recognition. They keep saying ‘may the best team win’ but we never know who the best team is until the results come out,” the actor added.
Amitabh Bachchan’s FIFA Comment Controversy
Earlier this month, Big B sparked a big controversy after he shared a post on X about the France national football team during the FIFA World Cup 2026. The controversy began after France advanced in the tournament by defeating Paraguay. Following the match, Amitabh posted on X, “T 5794 -अब कहे देते हैं : the French WC 2026 football team .. the FRENCH !! 11 players in team .. 10 Black .. !! 1 white !!? the POWER of BLACK.”
The tweet did not go down well with several users, who criticised the veteran actor for commenting on the racial composition of the French team. Many argued that the footballers should be identified and celebrated as French players rather than being reduced to the colour of their skin. Others called the remark unnecessary and insensitive, especially in the middle of a global sporting event where conversations around identity, nationality and representation are often closely watched.
