Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with his Malaysian counterpart Anwar Ibrahim met ministers and delegations from both countries to hold discussions at the Perdana Putra building. Ahead of delegation level
talks, PM Modi received a ceremonial welcome and Guard of Honour at the Perdana Putra building in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.
During the delegation level talks, PM Modi said, “The support of friendly nations is crucial in our fight against terrorism. We firmly believe that the prosperity of India and Malaysia is intertwined. In this environment of global instability, it is essential for India and Malaysia, two maritime neighbours, to utilise the full potential of our relationship. The core message of my visit today is very clear: India wants to work with Malaysia to take our relationship to a new level and expand cooperation in every possible area…”
“I am fully experiencing the height and depth of this friendship, and for this, I am deeply grateful to you. It is my great fortune that as Prime Minister, I have had the opportunity to visit Malaysia for the third time, and our friendship is such that I am getting the opportunity to meet you for the fourth time during your tenure,” he added.

Upon the delegation level discussions, PM Modi attended joint press meet along with Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim.
As a part of his two-day official visit to Malaysia, PM Modi landed in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and other noted dignitaries personally welcomed him at the airport.

PM Modi received a rousing welcome in Malaysia as he touched down on Saturday. His arrival ceremony featured a red-carpet welcome accompanied by traditional music and dance performances, celebrating the shared cultural heritage between India and Malaysia.
Sharing the experience, PM Modi posted on X: “Deeply touched by the warm welcome extended by my friend, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim at the airport. I look forward to our conversations and to further strengthening the bonds of friendship between India and Malaysia.”
What To Expect From PM Modi’s Malaysia Visit
The talks between India and Malaysia are anticipated to yield several agreements aimed at enhancing cooperation in various sectors. In his departure statement, PM Modi emphasised the key priorities of the visit. “The historic ties between India and Malaysia have made steady progress in recent years. I look forward to my discussions with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and to further strengthening our comprehensive strategic partnership,” he said.
“We will seek to deepen our defence and security ties, boost our economic and innovation partnership, and explore new areas of collaboration.”
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal highlighted the significance of PM Modi’s visit, noting that it has a “rich agenda and will greatly enhance the special partnership between India and Malaysia”. He added, “The visit is expected to provide significant momentum to our close and multifaceted partnership.”
