Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded Indian athletes for their stellar performances during the ninth day of the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow (Scotland), praising their performances and saying
they had made the nation proud. In separate posts on social media, the Prime Minister hailed gold medallists Asmita Dey and Harsh Singh for their achievements in judo.

The Prime Minister also termed it a “historic day for Indian Judo” while congratulating Harsh Singh on winning the gold medal in -67kg.

Modi also praised Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra, who secured the silver medal in the men’s javelin event. He said Chopra has shown remarkable consistency, composure and spirit, adding that his achievements made every Indian proud.

Congratulating Yamini Maurya on winning silver in the women’s 57kg judo category, the Prime Minister said she had performed exceptionally well and that her passion for the sport was evident throughout the competition. He said her achievement would inspire more youngsters to take up judo.
The Prime Minister also applauded Tejaswin Shankar, who claimed a historic bronze in the men’s decathlon.
Describing him as an athlete who delivered an exceptional all-round performance across 10 events, Modi said Indian athletes continued to create history and bring pride to the nation.
