seen running towards Ajith before embracing him at the racing circuit.
Videos of their meeting quickly surfaced on social media, drawing attention particularly because Vijay and Ajith have spent more than two decades at the centre of one of Tamil cinema’s most fiercely debated star rivalries.

Fans React To Vijay And Ajith Kumar’s Hug
The Vijay-Ajith fan rivalry has existed for years, even though the actors themselves have largely maintained a cordial equation. Their films, opening-day collections and popularity have frequently been pitted against one another by their respective fan bases.
That history inevitably followed the Silverstone video into the reactions online.
“Two decades of Vijay–Ajith fan wars are slowly coming to an end,” one user wrote after watching the clip.

And this SS is a beautiful sample of what the future can look like, mutual respect over rivalry, celebration over comparison. 🤝

How The Vijay-Ajith Fan Rivalry Began
The comparisons between Vijay and Ajith date back to the 1990s, when both were establishing themselves as leading actors in Tamil cinema.
Their respective releases frequently arrived around the same time. In 1996, Ajith had Vaanmathi and Kalloori Vaasal, while Vijay appeared in Coimbatore Mappillai and Poove Unakkaga. Another round of competing releases followed in 1997 with Ajith’s Rettai Jadai Vayasu and Vijay’s Kadhalukku Mariyadhai.
The rivalry became considerably more visible as their stardom grew.
One of the most notable box-office face-offs arrived during Pongal 2001 when Ajith’s Dheena and Vijay’s Friends released on the same day. With both actors commanding increasingly devoted fan bases, every subsequent theatrical clash added another chapter to the comparison.
Vijay And Ajith’s Films Have Clashed Several Times
The competition continued in the early 2000s. Ajith’s Villain and Vijay’s Bagavathi arrived in 2002, followed by Anjaneya and Thirumalai in 2003.
Over the years, what began as competition between two rising actors developed into the popular “Thala vs Thalapathy” debate among sections of their fandoms. Their box-office performances and stardom became recurring subjects of comparison.
