Commuters travelling on Mumbai Metro Line 1 can now save on their daily travel expenses through a newly launched app-based rewards system. The corridor operator has rolled out a feature that allows users
to earn cashback on routine online shopping and utilise those savings to offset commuting costs.
The initiative, introduced by Mumbai Metro One, enables users to earn cashback of up to Rs 20 per transaction when making purchases through popular e-commerce platforms such as Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, and Ajio.
The cashback is credited instantly and can be directly transferred to the commuter’s bank account, making it easy to use for travel or other expenses.
‘RapidCash’ Feature Launched In Partnership
According to a report in The Times Of India, the newly introduced feature, branded as ‘RapidCash’, has been developed in collaboration with RapidCash, Acetech Digital, and SequelString AI Pvt Ltd.
According to Metro officials, the aim is to bridge digital commerce with urban mobility by converting everyday spending into tangible savings for commuters.
Designed To Make Daily Travel More Affordable
Officials stated that the feature is intended to enhance affordability for regular passengers by linking their online shopping activity with travel benefits. By doing so, commuters can effectively reduce their transport expenses without altering their existing purchasing habits.
A spokesperson for Mumbai Metro One described the initiative as a first-of-its-kind offering within the Metro ecosystem, adding that it allows users to gain extra value from purchases they already make, while continuing to benefit from ongoing discounts and offers on e-commerce platforms.
Broader Push For Commuter-Centric Innovation
The launch of RapidCash builds on a series of digital and customer-focused innovations introduced by the operator over the past 12 years. These include WhatsApp-based ticketing, QR-enabled mobile tickets, Metro Rewards programmes, and unlimited travel passes.
Over the years, Mumbai Metro One claims to have served more than 120 crore passengers, maintaining a punctuality rate exceeding 99%, highlighting its focus on operational efficiency alongside customer convenience.
App Now Available Across Platforms
The updated mobile application featuring the cashback service is now accessible on both Android and iOS devices, allowing a wide base of commuters to take advantage of the new feature.
