Abhishek Sharma opened the innings for Team India in the fourth T20I against Australia on Thursday, November 6, but could only manage to score 28 runs from 21 balls. During his stay at the crease, he hammered
3 fours and 1 six and also added 56 runs in 6.4 overs for the first wicket with Shubman Gill. In the match played at Gold Coast, Abhishek scored runs with a strike rate of 133.33, which is way below his overall strike rate of 189.83.
Following the conclusion of the fourth T20I that India won by 48 runs to take a 2-1 lead in the series, India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav teased Abhishek for his slow knock.
In a video going viral on the internet, he can be heard saying, “Kabhi dekha hai sher ko ghaas khaate hue? (Have you ever seen a lion eating grass?).”

“Aaj sher ghaas khaa rha thaa dheere dheere karke (Today, the lion was eating grass — slowly, bit by bit),” he added.
In the fourth T20I, Suryakumar scored 20 runs from 10 balls after coming out to bat at No. 4, and his deputy Gill top-scored by adding 46 runs from 39 balls to India’s total.
India posted a total of 167/8 in the fourth T20I, but the target of 169 runs proved too much for the Australian team, and they got bowled out for just 119 runs in 18.2 overs.
For India, Washington Sundar picked up 3 wickets for 3 runs in 1.2 overs, and two Australian batters each were sent back to the pavilion by Shivam Dube and Axar Patel.
After the match, Suryakumar praised his teammates and said it was a complete team effort.
“Credit to all the batters, especially Abhishek and Shubman. The way they started in the powerplay was smart, they realized early it wasn’t a typical wicket for 200+. Everyone chipped in, and it was a complete team effort with the bat. The messages were clear from outside as well, me and Gauti bhai were on the same page. The bowlers adapted quickly, especially with a bit of dew coming in,” Surya said after the match.
