A video showing a Tesla’s screen trying to make sense of chaotic Indian traffic has sparked a wave of jokes online, with one post bluntly declaring: “India is not for Tesla.”
The clip appears to show Tesla’s
visualisation screen detecting people and vehicles coming from multiple directions, while a truck suddenly enters the scene. The unusual traffic pattern quickly became the focus of the internet’s attention, with users joking about how Tesla’s driving system might handle the unpredictability of Indian roads. News18 could not independently verify the veracity of the video or its location.
The reactions ranged from jokes about Tesla’s AI being overwhelmed to people arguing that India could actually be one of the best real-world testing grounds for autonomous driving technology.
“Tesla AI was probably like, ‘WTF is this test, it’s so complicated’,” one user joked. Another quipped, “Tesla: No Way Home.”
Some users pointed out that what looks chaotic could actually be valuable data for an autonomous-driving system. “That’s actually a good real world test,” one comment read, while another argued, “Tesla’s FSD will become better with all this data!”
The comment continued, “The key to Tesla FSD is the data it gets on vehicle and its surrounding behaviour and this is gold mine for them.” The argument is that India’s densely packed and unpredictable road environments could provide autonomous-driving systems with a huge variety of situations to learn from.

Others focused on what the Tesla appeared to be seeing. “I love how FSD can’t differentiate a picture of people on a truck from people walking in the middle of the road,” a user wrote, highlighting how difficult visual perception can become when road scenes contain unusual objects, crowds and vehicles.
India’s traffic also inspired plenty of practical suggestions. “Musk should come up with scooters in India,” one person joked, while another imagined Tesla’s navigation system looking at the situation and saying: “Yeah… we’re gonna need more compute 💀”
