Ranbir Kapoor has two big projects lined up – Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War and Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. Fans have been eagerly waiting for both projects. While Bhansali’s film was lined up for a release
in March 2026, Ramayana was scheduled to hit theatres on the occasion of Diwali. However, if a recent report by Bollywood Hungama is to be believed, Love and War is all set to be delayed again, and the decision has left the Ramayana team disappointed.
Reportedly, while Bhansali had planned for Love and War to release on Eid 2026, the film’s shoot has now been extended to May 2026. With this, the movie is likely to be released either in August or September. A release date is being decided and will be announced soon.
“Ranbir, Alia and Vicky have blocked their calendars till May 2026 now. All their prior commitments stand delayed due to the increase in shoot days for Love And War,” a source cited by the entertainment portal claimed.
Reportedly, Ranbir had requested Bhansali to release Love and War in June but that also won’t be possible now. “There’s no way for Love & War to release in June. Bhansali is now making an attempt to bring it on the big screen in August or September 2026. A date will be decided shortly. This has left some of the members of the Ramayana team disappointed, as they were hoping for a gap of at least 6 months between Love & War and Ramayana. The delay in shoots has also resulted in an increase of budgets for Love & War,” the insider added.
Meanwhile, the first look of Love and War is likely to be released in January 2026. However, there is no official confirmation regarding this as of now.
What Do We Know About Ramayana?
While Ranbir Kapoor is playing the role of Ram, Sai Pallavi will be seen essaying the role of Sita. KGF star Yash will now be seen as Ravana in this movie. Sunny Deol, Ravie Dubey will play the roles of Hanuman and Laxman, respectively. On the other hand, Kajal Aggarwal and Rakul Preet Singh will be seen as Mandodri and Surpanakha. Arun Govil, Kunal Kapoor, Adinath Kothare, Sheeba Chaddha and Indira Krishnan are also a part of this project. Reportedly, the makers have already wrapped up the edit of the first installment of the film.
What Do We Know About Love And War?
Bhansali’s Love and War also stars Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in the lead. Earlier this year, Ranbir Kapoor talked about the project during a meet and greet event in Mumbai when he said, “Love and War is something which is every actor’s dream. To work with brilliant actors like Alia and Vicky and to be directed by the master – Sanjay Leela Bhansali. I worked with him 17 years ago. To work with him again, I can say this with so much of clarity that I haven’t met a human being who works so hard, who understands characters, emotions, music, Indian culture, Indian value system, as much as Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Just to be on his set, it is tiring. It is long. The process can be a little daunting but eventually, as an artist, it is so satisfying. He really nurtures art. As actors, it’s truly been amazing so far.”
