by the love of her life, Flynn Rider. Now, as the makers are planning for a live-action movie, the grapevine is abuzz with details about the lead cast.
After putting the project to rest indefinitely earlier this year, Disney is once again planning to go ahead with the production, reported Variety. Although the full cast and crew for the live-action movie are kept under wraps, Scarlett Johansson, one of the highest-grossing stars in Hollywood, is reportedly being considered for a poignant role.

Best known for her role as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), as well as her critically acclaimed performances in films like Lost in Translation, Her, and Marriage Story, Scarlett will reportedly play Mother Gothel in the Tangled live-action movie.

Fans of the Broadway actress, having won a Tony Award for her performance in A View from the Bridge, have already begun anticipating her stunning casting. A user said, “Finally accepting age appropriate roles.” Another mentioned, “She’s got the perfect manipulative energy for Gothel. Those dark curls and piercing eyes already scream ‘Mother knows best!'” Someone added, “We might finally get another good live action.” A person stated, “Scarlett Johansson as a manipulative, overprotective mom?” “Gothel is the best Disney villain role in years. Meanwhile, a section of the audience rooted for Agatha All Along star Kathryn Hahn. One user said, “If Kathryn Hahn doesn’t get the role, I will boycott the movie.” Another mentioned, “Sorry, Scarlett, but Kathryn Hahn would be a better choice.” “Disney really said ‘let’s make gaslighting glamorous’ by putting Scarlett in that wig and corset,” read yet another comment.

Why Did Disney Halt Production Of Tangled Earlier?
After witnessing the disappointing box office performance of the live-action take of Snow White, as per Deadline, Disney halted the Tangled live-action movie in April this year. Later, Lilo & Stitch’s box office success changed the producers’ minds.
As per previous reports, Michael Gracey will direct the live-action Tangled movie. On the other hand, Bridgerton’s Corey Mylchreest auditioned for the role of Flynn Rider. After the movie was shelved for a few months, Mylchreest confirmed the same in an interview with Seventeen magazine.
“I think I can say this now because I don’t think it’s happening anymore, but I auditioned for Tangled,” he said, adding that the makers also asked him if he could sing. Talking about the same, the actor added that he was born to play the role of Flynn Rider.
