Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren died on Monday. He was 81. The development was confirmed by his son, Hemant Soren, the present Chief Minister of Jharkhand, via an X post.
On August 2, it was
reported that Shibu Soren was on a ventilator support in a critical condition.
He had been admitted to the Sri Ganga Ram Hospital in the national capital for over a month with a kidney-related issue.
“Respected Guru Dishom has left us all. Today, I have become empty…” (sic), Hemant Soren wrote on X.
In a medical bulletin, Delhi’s Sir Ganga Ram Hospital stated, “Shibu Soren was declared dead at 8.56 am today.”
“He died after a prolonged illness. He was suffering from a kidney ailment and had suffered a stroke, a month and a half back,” the bulletin read.
“He was on the life support system for the last one month,” the hospital stated.
Earlier, on June 24, Hemant Soren had said Shibu Soren had been receiving regular treatment at the hospital for an extended period.
“He was admitted here recently, so we came to see him. His health issues are currently being examined,” Hemant Soren had said.
Shibu Soren had been the leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha for the past 38 years and was recognised as the party’s founding patron.
