Jasprit Bumrah is back in action for Team India. The 32-year-old fast bowler from Ahmedabad was rested for the three-match ODI series against South Africa but is back for the five-match T20I series. In the first
match taking place at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Tuesday (December 9), Bumrah picked up his first wicket of the match on the second ball of the 11th over. He dismissed Dewald Brevis, who was caught by Suryakumar Yadav after making 22 runs from 14 balls.
Bumrah’s first wicket of the night helped him take his tally of wickets to 100 in T20Is. He is the second Indian bowler after Arshdeep Singh to take 100 wickets in T20Is, and in addition to that, he also became the first Indian to take at least 100 wickets in all three formats of the game.

After taking Brevis’s wicket on the second ball of the 12th over, Bumrah removed Keshav Maharaj on the fifth ball of that same over. Maharaj faced two balls but was not able to score even one run. He was caught behind by Jitesh Sharma.
Apart from Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Axar Patel and Varun Chakaravarthy have also picked up two wickets so far for the hosts in the ongoing match, and one South African batter was sent back to the pavilion by Hardik Pandya. Hardik, who is playing his first T20I for India since September 26, 2025, also slammed 59 runs from 28 balls in the first half of the ongoing fixture to help India post a total of 175/6 in 20 overs.
