India has reportedly paused its plans to procure several US defence systems, a move being seen as a retaliation to US President Donald Trump’s 50% tariffs, Reuters reported.
The news agency also reported
that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s trip to Washington to finalise defence procurement has been cancelled. However, CNN-News18 sources in the government said there was no final plan yet about Singh’s visit.
The discussions to purchase– Stryker combat vehicles made by General Dynamics Land Systems and Javelin anti-tank missiles developed by Raytheon and Lockheed Martin (LMT.N)– have been put on hold for now, as per Reuters.
India was in advanced talks with the US to purchase six Boeing P-8I reconnaissance aircraft worth USD 3.6 billion.
