Visakhapatnam: To ensure smooth traffic flow and faster completion of ongoing infrastructure works, the city traffic police have introduced new regulations near the NAD Flyover.
According to a statement
issued by Visakhapatnam City Police Commissioner Dr Shankhabrata Bagchi, traffic restrictions will come into effect from January 31, 2026 (Saturday) due to development works near the NAD Flyover. The detailed traffic diversions and instructions are as follows:
Key Traffic Changes
Additional bridge construction is underway near the NAD Flyover, one of the city’s busiest junctions. To minimise inconvenience to commuters and facilitate uninterrupted construction, traffic police have implemented the following changes:
Vehicles heading towards the airport: All vehicles travelling from Visakhapatnam city towards the airport must use the flyover. No vehicles will be permitted to pass underneath the flyover on this route.
Vehicles from Gopalapatnam and Marripalem: Traffic coming from Gopalapatnam and Marripalem towards the airport must also use the flyover exclusively.
Vehicles coming from the airport: Vehicles travelling from the airport towards Gopalapatnam, Marripalem, or Visakhapatnam city must use the flyover. Entry through the road beneath the flyover will not be allowed.
Rules for Light and Heavy Vehicles
Vehicles allowed beneath the flyover: Only light vehicles such as motorcycles, auto-rickshaws, and cars travelling between Gopalapatnam and Marripalem will be permitted to use the road beneath the flyover.
Restrictions on heavy vehicles: Heavy vehicles, including buses and lorries, must compulsorily use the flyover while passing through this stretch.
Police Advisory
The Police Commissioner has urged all commuters, ranging from two-wheeler riders to heavy vehicle drivers, to follow the revised traffic arrangements and cooperate with the traffic police. These restrictions are likely to remain in force until the completion of the construction works.
