Heavy rain continues to disrupt normal life across Mumbai, with waterlogging reported on several key routes, including Western Express Highway.
Accumulation of rainwater at Oberoi Junction has significantly
slowed vehicular movement in the area, adding to the city’s ongoing traffic woes.
In response, Mumbai Traffic Police personnel and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) staff were deployed at the junction to manage traffic flow. Authorities were working to ease congestion and ensure the safety of motorists navigating the waterlogged stretch.

Taking to X, the Mumbai Traffic Police tweeted, “Due to waterlogging, vehicular movement is slow at Oberoi Junction. Our personnels and @mybmc staff are present at the location to ease the traffic & assist Mumbaikars.(sic)”
Mumbai has been reeling under the impact of relentless heavy rain since Saturday, with several areas facing severe waterlogging issues. The torrential rains have brought the city traffic to a standstill, throwing normal life out of gear.
Due to accumulation of water on Tuesday, traffic slowed down at many places, including at Gol Deul, Gulalwadi, Wadala, Shivdi, Nawab Tank, Nagpada, Maratha Mandir, Byculla, Bawla Compound, Bhoiwada, Wadala Station Four Roads, Hindmata Junction, Matunga, Mumbai Traffic Police said in a post on X.
In these areas, one and a half to two feet of water have accumulated due to the morning showers, causing traffic to move slowly, traffic police said.
As rains continue to pound the state capital, several areas the city registered over 200mm rainfall in the last 24 hours, with Vikhroli in the eastern suburbs registering the highest downpour at 255.5mm. Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister advised citizens to take precautions as more showers are expected along with high tides.
A red alert has been issued for Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad, with the IMD forecasting extremely heavy rainfall in these areas today.
