Mitchell Marsh entered his name in the history books on Sunday by becoming the first Australian cricketer to score 1,500 T20 runs in a calendar year. The Australia T20I captain achieved the feat while
playing for Sunrisers Leeds in their Men’s Hundred match against Welsh Fire at Headingley in Leeds.
Marsh scored 50 runs off 34 balls against Welsh Fire to take his tally of runs in 2026 to 1,502 in 35 matches.
He surpassed the previous Australian record held by Tim David, who scored 1,462 runs in 73 T20 matches for seven different teams in 2022.

Former England batter James Vince currently holds that record. Vince scored 424 runs in 10 matches for Southern Brave in the 2024 edition of the Men’s Hundred.

Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan is the only other batter to have scored more than 2,000 T20 runs in a calendar year. Rizwan accumulated 2,036 runs in 48 matches in 2021.
