Light showers swept across parts of Delhi-NCR on the morning of Tuesday, April 7, with Noida and Gurugram among the areas receiving rainfall, offering a brief respite from the recent rise in temperatures.
The India Meteorological Department has placed Delhi under alert for the next two days, signalling unsettled weather ahead. As per reports, an orange alert is in effect for Tuesday, April 7, followed by a yellow alert on Wednesday, April 8.
Forecast For April 7 And April 8
The IMD has predicted very light to light rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds in Delhi, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours on April 7.
Similar conditions are expected on April 8, with winds likely to reach speeds of 30-40 kmph. Additionally, one or two spells of rain or thunderstorms may occur over both days.
Changing Sky Conditions Through The Week
According to a report in Economic Times, Delhi residents can expect strong winds, cloudy skies and scattered rainfall on April 7 and 8. Partly cloudy conditions are likely to persist on April 9.
From April 10 onwards, skies are expected to clear, with temperatures gradually rising. Daytime temperatures may climb to around 33-34°C by April 10 and 11.
A slight drop in temperatures is anticipated on April 8, with the maximum expected to hover around 31°C and the minimum near 20°C. However, temperatures are likely to increase again after April 10, marking a return to warmer conditions across the region.
Reason Behind Sudden Weather Change
The shift in weather has been linked to changing wind patterns and the influence of a Western Disturbance affecting northern India.
This system is expected to bring intermittent cloud cover, isolated rainfall, stronger winds and a noticeable dip in temperatures across Delhi-NCR and adjoining areas. Minimum temperatures may fall by 2-3°C, leading to cooler mornings and evenings.
Weather Outlook For Noida And Gurugram
In Noida, partly cloudy skies are expected on April 7 and 8, along with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers. Temperatures are likely to range between 27-31°C (maximum) and 17-18°C (minimum).
Gurugram is also expected to experience similar conditions, with partly cloudy skies and brief spells of rain or thunderstorms over the same period. Temperatures may range between 30-31°C (maximum) and 15-16°C (minimum).
Alerts And Safety Advisory
The IMD has cautioned residents about thunderstorms and gusty winds, which could occasionally reach speeds of up to 60 kmph. These conditions may also lead to dust being lifted into the air.
Residents have been advised to take precautions, including staying indoors during intense rainfall and avoiding travel when wind speeds are high.
Cooler conditions are expected to persist briefly due to the rainfall. However, from April 10 onwards, temperatures are likely to rise again, bringing back warmer weather across Delhi-NCR.
