Indians endured mixed results in the latest update of the International Cricket Council (ICC)’s women’s rankings. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who has managed only 120 runs in the last five ODIs, dropped
two places to 16th in the batting list, while Deepti Sharma fell a spot in the bowling table.
Smriti Mandhana retained her top spot in the batting rankings, being the only Indian in the top 10. Deepti made a one-position jump here, to alight at 16th, while Jemimah Rodrigues dropped to 21st. Harleen Deol and Pratika Rawal also saw gains to 38th and 43rd spots.
In the bowling rankings, Sneh Rana dropped two positions to 18th but she made up for it in the all-rounder rankings with a jump of 12 places to 28th, a testament to her improving batting contributions from lower down the order. Deepti was the only Indian in top-five for this one, keeping her place at fourth.
Meanwhile, South African opener Tazmin Brits climbed two spots in the batting rankings to a career-high fourth thanks to her record-breaking 101 in the Proteas’ six-wicket win over New Zealand in the Women’s World Cup on Monday.
Australia’s Ash Gardner rose to a personal best fifth place among batters, moving up seven spots with 697 rating points, just behind the Brits’ 706. Gardner’s leap was also due to a century: an uber-impressive 115 runs off 83 balls in their win over New Zealand that rescued her team from a collapse.
New Zealand captain Sophie Devine moved up seven places to match her career-best eighth position after scoring 112 and 85 in losses to Australia and South Africa, respectively. Pakistan opener Sidra Amin’s fighting 81-run innings against rivals India propelled her three places to 10th, her first top-10 appearance in the Women’s ODI Batting Rankings, having been ranked a best of 13th in December 2023.
South Africa’s legendary all-rounder Marizanne Kapp moved up to fifth in the ICC Women’s ODI Bowling Rankings. Her teammate Nonkululeko Mlaba’s four-wicket haul against New Zealand bumped her six positions to a career-high 13th place with 589 points.
Australia’s Alana King advanced from eighth to seventh. Meanwhile, Annabel Sutherland, just 19 points behind Mlaba, climbed to a career-best 14th with a total of 570 points, previously ranking 17th in December 2024.
