Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a sharp attack on Kerala’s ruling and opposition alliances, saying the state is stuck between “two selfish parties”. He accused the Left Democratic Front
(LDF) and Congress backed United Democratic Front (UDF) of practising vote bank politics and ignoring development.
PM Modi said the BJP is committed to building a “Viksit Keralam” and promised change in the state. He added that one party is corrupt while the other is “more corrupt”, and said what has remained unchanged will now change.
Corruption and loot
The Prime Minister alleged that both alliances have looted the state for decades. “For decades, LDF and UDF have looted Kerala,” he said. He further claimed that one party is corrupt while the other is “more corrupt”.
Modi alleged that there is an understanding between the two alliances to alternate power. “There is a pact between LDF and UDF – for a few years LDF will rule the state and then UDF will rule,” he said. He added that both parties are now aware of BJP’s growing presence.
PM Modi said both alliances are targeting the BJP because they are worried. “These corrupt parties are afraid of BJP. LDF says UDF is BJP’s B team and UDF says LDF is BJP’s B team,” he said. He added that people of Kerala understand the political situation.
“People of Kerala know who is the B team of which party,” he said.
PM promise to probe scams
The Prime Minister alleged that both alliances were involved in scams and failed to act against each other. “LDF and UDF have done a lot of scams. Both don’t take action against each other,” he said.
He promised that a BJP government would investigate all such cases. “When BJP comes to power, we will investigate all the scams and bring out the truth,” he said.
PM Modi said both alliances are worried about BJP’s rise.
“They are sleepless, they are scared,” he said. He added that both parties are targeting the BJP due to this fear.
Attack on Congress and Left strategy
The Prime Minister said that Congress and Left parties work together in other parts of the country but oppose each other in Kerala.
“Congress and Left do alliance in the whole country, but in Kerala they fight each other. They are misleading the people,” he said. He urged voters to be cautious.
Modi said lack of industrial growth has affected employment in the state. “Industries were not established here, that is why youths did not get jobs,” he said.
The Prime Minister said the BJP will bring development and change in Kerala.
“BJP will make Viksit Keralam… this is Modi’s guarantee. What remained unchanged will change,” he said.
Kerala Assembly election is scheduled for a single phase on April 9. Results will be declared on May 4.
