According to a report by The Sun, a woman named Becky shared a video of her wedding on TikTok in May last year, which quickly drew attention due to her unconventional gown. The outfit, described as off-shoulder with an unusually deep neckline, was perceived by many viewers as excessively revealing. Several social media users claimed the dress made guests uncomfortable, with some stating that children present at the ceremony had to avert their eyes.
The video soon went viral and was later reposted by Becky on her Instagram account, where it attracted further criticism. Many users expressed shock at the choice of dress, while some commented that they would never opt for such an outfit for their own wedding. Becky was subjected to heavy trolling across platforms.
Responding to the backlash, Becky clarified her position in replies to several comments. She explained that she had fallen in love with the gown when she first saw it and felt it adequately covered her body at the time of purchase. However, she said she lost a significant amount of weight before the wedding, and when she tried the dress again closer to the ceremony, it appeared more revealing than expected. With no time to arrange an alternative, she decided to wear it.
Becky added that she was marrying the person she loved and was focused on the happiness of the moment rather than the criticism. Her husband also came out in her support, stating that due to his wife’s body proportions, finding a comfortable and well-fitting dress had been difficult. He remarked that he found her beautiful and was unconcerned about public opinion.
