With just days to go before its official launch, final preparations are in full swing for the much-anticipated inauguration of the Noida International Airport on March 28.
Located in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh,
the airport is set to become one of India’s largest aviation hubs, significantly boosting connectivity in the National Capital Region (NCR). Authorities are currently carrying out last-mile checks, including infrastructure readiness, security protocols, and operational testing.
According to officials and multiple media reports, trial runs for passenger handling, baggage systems, and airside operations are being conducted to ensure a smooth rollout. The airport’s first phase is expected to handle around 12 million passengers annually, with plans for future expansion already in place.
The project is being developed by Zurich Airport International, which has been overseeing construction and operational planning. The airport is designed with a strong focus on sustainability, featuring energy-efficient systems and aiming to be one of India’s greenest airports.
Government authorities have emphasised that the airport will play a crucial role in decongesting the Indira Gandhi International Airport, while also improving regional connectivity across western Uttar Pradesh and nearby states.
Ahead of the inauguration, coordination between aviation authorities, security agencies, and airline operators is being closely monitored. Officials are ensuring that all regulatory approvals, safety checks, and passenger facilities are in place before commercial operations begin.
Once operational, the Noida International Airport is expected to not only ease travel for millions of passengers but also act as a major catalyst for economic growth, boosting tourism, logistics, and real estate development in the region.
