A video of a rescued boy who was lost in Mumbai has gone viral on social media. The person is a physically and mentally challenged person from Jharkhand.
A user named Karan Joshi posted the video and wrote,
“Today reminded me that not everyone on the street is lost…some are just waiting for someone to stop. Today, a walk with my dog turned into finding a missing son.”
“This didn’t start as a rescue. It started with noticing someone others ignored. What happened next still feels unreal,” he added.
“A son missing since 21st December was found. A 20-year-old boy, mentally challenged, physically disabled, motherless (he lost his mother at 5) was reunited with his family the same day,” he said.
He said that though many people thought the person was a beggar, in reality, he was lost from his family. The boy is 20 years old.

“At first glance, he looked like just another homeless beggar. Dirty clothes. Unbearable smell. Swollen foot. Blank eyes. PEOPLE ASSUMED THE WORST. Some said he was intoxicated. Some said, ‘aise log roz milte hai, chhod de.’”
“When everyone kept saying ‘chod de bhai, aise 100 milenge’, something inside me just refused to walk away, especially after I saw how badly his leg was swollen,” he wrote in the comments section.
Joshi’s Arrangement For Caring
The video shows how Joshi makes arrangements for taking care of the person, including buying clothes, taking him to a barber, and also for a medical checkup.
“Doctors avoided injections because he kept repeating just one line: ‘I want an injection… I want to die,’” Joshi wrote.
“A broken mind. A tired body. A soul that had clearly given up. When too many people questioned him, he panicked,” he added.
When Joshi asked the boy his name, he clearly replied ‘Om Prakash’. But on being asked where he was from, the boy initially did not give any answers.
“We took him to the police station again, but since he couldn’t remember anything, nothing moved forward. At that point, we were helpless… but giving up was never an option. We couldn’t leave a special child back on the streets again.”
“Then after hours of silence, I asked him randomly, “Koi toh jagah hogi bhai… Surat? Gujarat? Bihar?. And suddenly he said one word. ‘Hariharganj,’” Joshi wrote.
On searching for the location, Joshi found out that it is the name of a place in Jharkhand.
“Sirf ek baar usne ‘Hariharganj’ bola tha pure din mein. Bas wahi pakad ke humne Jharkhand Police ko WhatsApp pe details bhej di. Ek udta teer. That’s it. AND THEN, THE PHONE RANG. ‘Pata chal gaya hai. Uske ghar walon ko bulaya gaya hai.’”
Eventually, the boy’s family members came to take him back with them. In the post, Joshi thanks the Jharkhand Police and the Navi Mumbai Police for helping the boy meet his family.
Was Internet Happy With This?
The video generated several reactions. One user wrote, “I wish nothing but the best for you.”
Another person said, “We made the right people famous.”
Joshi completed his post by writing, “The main & only reason I made this video is; if even one person watches this and chooses to help someone in need someday, then the person who needs help will find it, and this video will have truly served its purpose.”
