Agastya Nanda’s biographical drama starring late actor Dharmendra, Ikkis, is all set to have its OTT premiere. The movie will premiere on Prime Video free of cost. The film was initially planned for a theatrical
release on December 25 but was later postponed to hit the big screen on January 1.
About Ikkis OTT Release
Ikkis has been available on Prime Video on a rental basis for quite some time, and subscribers had to pay an additional Rs 349 to watch the film. However, starting on February 26, 2026, the film will be available on the same streaming platform for free.
Ikkis: Plot and Cast
Ikkis, produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, stars the late Dharmendra, Simar Bhatia, Vivaan Shah, Sikandar Kher, and Jaideep Ahlawat in prominent roles. Sriram Raghavan, Arijit Biswas, and Pooja Ladha Surti co-wrote the film.
The story of Ikkis revolves around Arun Khetarpal, played by Agastya Nanda. Arun was 21 years old when he was killed in the Battle of Basantar during the 1971 Indo-Pak War. He received the Param Vir Chakra posthumously for his remarkable courage and sacrifice, making him the youngest recipient of India’s highest military honour at the time.
While Agastya Nanda portrays Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal in Ikkis, Simar Bhatia is seen as Kiran. The film also marks late actor Dharmendra’s posthumous appearance, where he plays Brigadier M.L. Khetarpal (Retd.), Arun Khetarpal’s father.
Sriram Raghavan on Ikkis Disclaimer
Recently, in an interview with Variety, the film’s director revealed that he wasn’t happy with the disclaimer the war drama carries at the end. He said, “I don’t know whether people who ask me about it have seen another film of mine, Badlapur (2015). There’s a music video in the end, which completely negates what the film is doing. It screwed up the mood of the film! It was inserted at the insistence of my producer (Dinesh Vijan). Ikkis is also made by the same producer. He’s a superb guy; he let me make this film and helped me immensely. But the disclaimer was not something I was happy with personally.”
News18 gave Ikkis 4 stars, and an excerpt from our review read: “Overall, Ikkis is a must-watch for more than one reason – Raghavan’s fresh perspective on war films, Dharmendra’s emotional last on-screen presence, Agastya Nanda and Jaideep Ahlawat’s sincere performances, and above all, a chance to learn about Arun Khetarpal’s sacrifice for his motherland when he was just ‘Ikkis’.”
