Virat Kohli roared back to form with an unbeaten century, guiding RCB past the target of 193 with 5 balls remaining and 6 wickets in hand, rendering Angkrish Raghuvanshi’s half-century insufficient.
RCB skipper Rajat Patidar won the toss and chose to field, with Ajinkya Rahane and Finn Allen opening for KKR. Bhuvneshwar Kumar provided an early breakthrough by dismissing Allen for 18 off just 8 balls, before Josh Hazlewood sent KKR captain Rahane back for 19 off 13.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Cameron Green stabilised the innings, adding 68 runs for the third wicket, with the young Indian in full flow as he reached his half-century.
Green scored 32 off 24 before Rashik Salam removed him, bringing Rinku Singh to the crease.
Rinku stayed with Raghuvanshi until the end as KKR posted 192 in 20 overs. Rinku remained unbeaten on 49 off 29, while Raghuvanshi was run out off the final ball of the innings after a fine 71.
Kohli began the chase alongside Jacob Bethell, who contributed 15 off 12 before being caught and bowled by Kartik Tyagi.
Devdutt Padikkal then came in to steady the innings, while Kohli, dismissed for ducks in his previous two outings, returned to form with an aggressive half-century that took RCB past 100 by the midway point of the chase.
Tyagi returned to break the partnership, removing Padikkal for 39 off 27 immediately after the strategic time-out, and then greeted Patidar with a sharp bouncer that struck the RCB captain on the helmet. Patidar recovered to score 11 before falling to the guile of Sunil Narine.
Manish Pandey produced what could be the catch of the tournament with a stunning effort to dismiss Tim David for 2, before Kohli completed his 9th IPL century. The chase master sealed the win in 19.1 overs, finishing unbeaten on 105 off just 60 deliveries.
