US President Donald Trump said that Washington was continuing to share intelligence with Ukraine and was working with both Kyiv and Moscow to bring an end to the Russia-Ukraine war. Asked whether the US had
stopped sharing intelligence with Ukraine, Donald Trump said, “No, we haven’t. We helped them. But we’re really helping them get to a final answer… we are sharing intel. We want the war to end. So we’re working with them and with Russia on getting the war to end.”
He added that both countries appeared to want an end to the conflict but were struggling to find a way forward.
“I think they both want it to end… but they don’t know how to get to that point. There’s a lot of hatred there between the two of them… We’re gonna get them there,” Donald Trump said.
The US President’s remarks come as Ukraine reported fresh Russian missile attacks, raising questions over an energy ceasefire announced by Washington over the weekend. Neither Moscow nor Kyiv formally confirmed the truce.
Ukraine Reports Russian Missile Strikes
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russian forces had attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles, targeting a thermal power plant. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said a strike on a high-rise residential building killed two people.
“Once again, no advance warning from our partners,” Zelenskyy said in a post on Telegram, without explaining why the usual warning had not been issued. He added that Ukrainian intelligence indicated Russia was preparing further ballistic missile launches, arguing that the attacks showed Moscow did not consider itself bound by Trump’s proposed energy ceasefire.
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said Kyiv was still receiving US military intelligence and attributed the absence of an advance warning to the type of weapon Russia had used.
US intelligence is considered important to Ukraine’s ability to anticipate incoming missile strikes and identify Russian military targets.
Asked whether Russia had violated the ceasefire, Donald Trump said, “I’ll let you know about that later.”
Zelenskyy Questions Impact Of Russian Diesel Exports
The ceasefire announcement came amid pressure from Trump on Ukraine to halt attacks on Russian oil refineries. The US President has linked the issue to efforts to ease fuel prices ahead of next month’s congressional midterm elections. Washington has also eased sanctions on Russian diesel exports, with Trump arguing that releasing additional supplies into global markets could help lower fuel prices.
