A strange and eerie old video has resurfaced on social media, leaving many both spooked and intrigued. Filmed at night, it appears to show passengers walking along an airport gangway, but here’s the unsettling
twist: there’s no aircraft attached to it. The bizarre scene has sparked a wave of speculation, from ghost stories to theories about clever optical illusions.
The clip, reportedly from 2017, is believed to have been shot at Phuket International Airport in southern Thailand. It was reportedly captured by the pilot of another plane while waiting on the tarmac.
The footage zooms in on a jet bridge, which is brightly lit but hanging in the air with no visible plane connected to it. Despite that, several “shadowy figures” can be seen moving through it; some appear to be towing luggage and heading towards the terminal. The lack of any aircraft in the frame left viewers asking the obvious question: where were they coming from?
The Ghost Theory
According to the Instagram page that shared the clip, it is being linked to a real-life tragedy that took place a decade earlier. On September 16, 2007, a One-Two-Go Airlines flight operating between Bangkok and Phuket crashed next to a runway at the airport.
Media reports from the time stated the aircraft was carrying several foreigners, and the accident claimed at least 90 lives. It was one of the deadliest aviation disasters in Thailand.
“Some believe they could be the lost souls from the tragic 2007 plane crash that happened in Phuket,” the caption shared along with the video reads.

How Did The Internet React
As the footage began circulating again, people posted a variety of reactions in the comments section.
One user commented, “With AI now in our lives, we will never ever be certain if a video is fake or not…”
“This is the Final Destination movie that we never saw,” someone remarked while another wrote, “Their invisible ghost plane pulled up.”
A person pointed out, “It’s been debunked as a reflection from inside the airport. Look it up.”
“There’s a passage way from where they are coming, it’s hidden behind it, and notice the camera isn’t showing full view, I’m sure there’s a plane on the left too, but it’s recorded in a way that you don’t see it,” read another comment.
Are Those Really Ghosts? Here’s The Truth
While the ghost passenger theory has gained traction online, an August 2017 report in The Sun suggested there was nothing supernatural about it. The article described the scene as an “optical illusion” caused by reflections from the brightly lit airport terminal on the glass walls of the bridge.
“The ‘ghost-like’ travellers captured were simply because the busy, brightly-lit airport was being reflected on the bridge,” the report had mentioned.
Although the ghost theories have been addressed in the past, the video continues to resurface on social media from time to time. Viewers who are unaware of the explanation often believe that Phuket Airport may be linked to paranormal activity.
