Delhi continues to choke in poor air quality with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 420 in Anand Vihar. The overall AQI was in the ‘very poor’ category on Sunday morning. Owing to worsening conditions, the government
plans to carry out artificial rain in the coming week.
As per IMD, the possibility of cloud presence is on October 28, 29, and 30, and if conditions remain favourable, Delhi could experience its first artificial rain through cloud seeding on October 29.
While the AQI at Anand Vihar was recorded at 420, other areas are showing some respite in pollution levels. As per the Central Pollution Control Board, at Lodhi Road, the AQI is recorded at 287 in the ‘very poor’ category, and at India Gate too, the AQI is in the same category with 325.

In Vivek Vihar, the AQI is recorded at 205. Delhi government has deployed water sprinklers in several areas to get rid of the pollution.
An artificial rain test was done in Burari on Thursday. As per the officials, during the trial in Burari, small amounts of silver iodide and sodium chloride — compounds used to induce artificial rain — were released from an aircraft.
The cloud-seeding project, jointly developed by IIT Kanpur and the Delhi government, aims to explore artificial rainfall as a method to reduce particulate pollution.
Delhi Temperature Dips
As winters near, temperatures have begun to dip in Delhi, with the city recording its lowest minimum temperature of the month so far at 16.9 degrees Celsius on Saturday. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature of 16.9 degrees Celsius is two notches below the season’s average.
The maximum temperature settled at 32 degrees Celsius, 0.5 notch below normal, according to the IMD.
