Ranveer Singh starrer Dhurandhar proved to be a mammoth at the box office. Now, as the release date of the film’s sequel inches closer, expectations and excitement are high. Adding to the buzz, new reports
now claim that Vicky Kaushal will be a part of Dhurandhar 2. As per reports, in an extended cameo, Vicky will reprise his role as Major Vihaan Shergill from Aditya Dhar’s Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019).
Mid-Day quoted a source as saying, “Aditya has been tight-lipped about the star power he is adding to Dhurandhar 2. The director, who plans to build the Dhurandhar universe, has smartly woven in a track from Uri despite the difference in the two stories’ timelines. Vicky’s character from the war drama, which is set in 2016, is introduced in this film, although it remains unclear whether he and Ranveer’s character cross paths. The cameo includes a few action blocks.”
According to the report, Vicky Kaushal has already shot his sequence. The source added, “Vicky is one of Aditya’s favourite actors. The director was only too happy to design sequences that laid the foundation for a spin-off in the future.” The report claims that Vicky’s part was shot last year, even before Dhurandhar became a blockbuster hit.
Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar was a massive commercial and critical success, breaking several records and becoming the biggest movie of 2025. The movie has collected a worldwide gross of Rs 1283.5 crore until Day 45, according to Sacnilk, and Rs 989.9 crore in India, while the overseas collection stands at Rs 293.6 crore.
Meanwhile, Vicky Kaushal is shooting for Love and War. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ambitious film Love And War, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, has been pushed to 2027, moving away from its earlier expected release window. One of the primary reasons behind the delay is the sheer scale of Love and War.
Sources close to the production revealed to Pinkvilla that a substantial portion of the film’s shoot is still pending, prompting the makers to revisit the project’s timeline. The current plan is to wrap principal photography by June this year, following which the film will move into a lengthy and meticulous post-production phase.
