As Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar released on Netflix last week, many people noticed that in the end credits of the film there was a mention of multiple vans for Hamza (Ranveer Singh’s character) during the shoot.
This sparked a discussion on whether Ranveer Singh demands multiple vanity vans during shoots, leading to backlash against the actor. However, a recent update has clarified that these discussions are untrue.
The controversy started when a Reddit user shared a screenshot of the film’s end credits, highlighting three separate vans assigned to Hamza, Ranveer’s character, one for him, one for his staff, and one listed as a regular van. This led to online discussions questioning the production’s spending on actors. Now, a report by HT clarified that the mention of “vans” in the post-credits does not refer to vanity vans but to regular vehicles used during the Bangkok shoot.
The portal quoted a source saying, “These were Thai vans being referred to in the end credits from Dhurandhar’s Bangkok shoot, which had a long shooting schedule. One vanity and two cars (Thai vans) were deployed for the actor, staff, luggage, etc., to travel around the locations.”
“Even now, with the teaser, you see two characters and a drastic transformation of Ranveer. He sometimes shed 15 kgs and gained 25 kgs within months or days and shot for 12–14 hours a day. In general, with actors, sometimes for drastic body transformations, a gym or private chef or both on sets are required for the magic to happen within production timelines,” added the source, clarifying that the actor was not given anything ‘extra’ but only what the shoot and his work required.
