With back-to-back releases every weekend, it is quite difficult for a film to maintain momentum at the box office for weeks. But, Kantara Chapter 1 looks to have a strong hold as it enters its third week of run.
The momentum currently places it among the top Indian films of the year. The film exceeded fans’ expectations and received great acclaim for its powerful performances, rich depiction of regional mythology, and exceptional technical expertise. The film has collected roughly Rs 475 crore so far, with its phenomenal performance continuing into its third weekend.
According to Sacnilk, the film grossed Rs 10 crore net on its second Tuesday in India, raising its total domestic earnings to Rs 475.90 crore. On Wednesday, the film had an occupancy rate of 24.19 per cent in Kannada, 14.00 per cent in Telugu and 10.61 per cent in Hindi. Given that the 2022 film Kantara grossed around Rs 400 crore globally, it will be interesting to watch how Kantara Chapter 1 performs at the box office after surpassing its own record.
Kantara Chapter 1 Break Records
The film was released on October 2 and faced competition from Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor’s Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari. But, despite this, it surpassed all expectations. It is also among this year’s highest-grossing Indian films, an astounding feat for a regional production. Kantara: Chapter 1 debuted to huge success, grossing Rs 61.85 crore on Thursday and Rs 45.4 crore on Friday, followed by Rs 55 crore on Saturday and Rs 63 crore on Sunday.
