In an unusual incident that has left villagers both amazed and curious, a bull is reportedly helping farmers identify borewell points in agricultural fields. The strange phenomenon is being described by
locals as nothing short of a miracle.
Traditionally, farmers rely on age-old methods such as using coconuts to detect underground water sources or consulting geologists who use modern equipment to locate groundwater. However, a farmer in Andhra Pradesh claims to have found an unconventional solution, a trained bull.
The incident took place in Tettu village in V. Kota mandal of Chittoor district. Farmer Mallesha had already drilled six borewells on his land but failed to find water. While searching for alternatives, he came across a bull named Sharanya from the Chikkamagaluru district in Karnataka on Instagram.
Determined to try his luck, Mallesha contacted the bull’s handlers and brought Sharanya to his village. What happened next surprised many villagers who gathered to witness the unusual process.
According to locals, the bull walks across the farmland and allegedly marks a spot by urinating, which its handlers claim indicates the presence of groundwater beneath that location. Farmers believe that drilling a borewell at that marked point will yield water.
The bull is also said to display certain gestures. If the farmer prays for water and the bull lifts its leg over the farmer as a blessing, villagers interpret it as a sign that water exists beneath the ground. On the other hand, if the bull does not respond, it is believed that no water will be found there.
Handlers further claim that the number of steps the bull takes indicates the depth at which water might be available. After the spot is marked, the bull reportedly stays near the drilling point until the borewell work begins and rituals are performed.
Once water is found, villagers say the bull symbolically blesses the farmer again before leaving the site.
The unusual practice has attracted significant attention in nearby villages, with curious onlookers visiting to see the bull in action. The bull’s owners claim they are receiving calls from farmers across Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu who want help locating borewell points.
While many villagers see the bull’s actions as a divine or mysterious phenomenon, others view it with scepticism, especially in an era where modern technology is widely used to detect groundwater.
