A video from Arunachal Pradesh is making waves online after a local man was seen confronting a group of tourists from Assam for littering in public. The incident took place in Roing, where the tourists had
parked on the roadside and were eating food. Trash was left scattered around, prompting the man to approach them and call out their behaviour.
The clip, originally shared on Instagram by Jimu Mele on August 5, shows him asking, “Have you made this mess here?” He politely advises the group not to litter and requests them to clean up if they are responsible, adding, “We try to keep our city clean, so please don’t litter here.”
Moments later, the tourists are seen picking up the garbage. One of them asks, “Ab theek hai?” to which the man replies, “Haan badhiya, badhiya. Yeh jagah aap logon ke liye bhi hai na.” The video has already crossed 2 lakh views and sparked a fresh debate on civic sense in India.

Social Media Reactions
The post has been reshared widely across platforms, with many applauding the man’s actions. A user commented, “This is not about Assam or Arunachal, it is about caring for and nurturing nature. If someone is putting in effort to keep a place clean, respect that. Count the litter, not the boundaries.”
Another remarked, “Good lesson taught. I hope this reaches the maximum audience so that they learn basic civic sense.”
Many others echoed the sentiment, calling for such acts to be normalised. Some users also expressed frustration over how common littering has become at tourist spots.
“Good job, brother. Time to normalise civic sense in India,” one wrote, while another noted, “People destroy good things.”
Similar Incident in Himachal Pradesh
This is not the first time such a video has gone viral. In July, footage of a foreign tourist cleaning litter near a waterfall in Himachal Pradesh drew massive attention.
The clip, shared on X (formerly Twitter), showed the man collecting plastic wrappers and other garbage, believed to have been left behind by Indian visitors, at a scenic spot in Kangra. “Maybe if I have a free day, I will sit and tell people, ‘Pick this up’. I have no problem telling people,” he says in the video.
Shameful a foreign tourist is more concerned about nature’s beauty while local tourists keep shamelessly littering such stunning places. No govt or administration is to be blamed — it’s the people who need to change if we ever want a clean country. Video from Kangra, Himachal. pic.twitter.com/AbZfcG28G8
