Star Brazil forward Neymar was seen having a verbal spat with Norway goalkeeper Orjan Nyland before and after scoring a penalty in the dying minutes of the Round of 16 clash, videos of which have gone
viral on social media.
Brazil’s quest for a sixth FIFA World Cup title came to a heartbreaking end as Erling Haaland struck twice in the closing stages to send Norway into the quarter-finals, with Neymar’s stoppage-time penalty proving to be nothing more than a late consolation in the 1-2 loss.
The incident unfolded moments before Neymar stepped up to take the penalty. Nyland, who had already produced one of the saves of the tournament by denying Bruno Guimarães from the spot earlier in the game, tried to throw Neymar off with some last-minute mind games before the kick.

Goleiro da Noruega duvidou… 😜
Quando Neymar pegou a bola, Nyland gritou (em espanhol) para o Neymar:
“Eu vou te parar, eu vou te parar, vou te parar” 😡Neymar: “Tem certeza?”. 🤔
“Onde quer (que eu bata)? Onde quer?” 😂
Quando mandou para o gol, Neymar sorriu e foi em…

“Where do you want it?” Neymar asked Nyland. “I’ll stop it for you, I’ll stop it,” the latter replied.
“Not to me! Not to me!” Neymar said after scoring.
Neymar converted a stoppage-time penalty, but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation as Brazil, who managed just 34% possession, slumped to their earliest FIFA World Cup exit since 1990.
Carlo Ancelotti’s decision to include Neymar was a gamble, with the latter not having played for his nation since 2023 due to injuries.
