The five-day international
summit, beginning Monday, is expected to draw heads of state and government, ministers, senior delegates from invited nations and leaders of major international organisations. According to the advisory, comprehensive traffic arrangements have been put in place to ensure public safety and smooth vehicular movement. Around 4,200 traffic personnel have been deployed across 10 zones, each supervised by a Deputy Commissioner of Police, with additional senior officers overseeing VVIP movement.

High-security and controlled traffic zones will be enforced around Bharat Mandapam, Sushma Swaraj Bhawan and Hyderabad House. During VVIP movements, Bhairon Marg — excluding the Ring Road T-Point — and Mathura Road from Subramania Bharti Marg T-Point to Dr Dinesh Nandini Dalmia Chowk will remain restricted.
A major north–south corridor via Ring Road–Ashram Chowk–ISBT Kashmiri Gate–Dhaula Kuan–AIIMS will remain restriction-free to ensure cross-city movement.
Traffic may also be dynamically regulated on key roads such as Kartavya Path, Janpath, Akbar Road, Teen Murti Marg and Shanti Path. Vehicles not destined for Delhi will be diverted to the Eastern and Western Peripheral Expressways and will not be allowed to enter the capital during the summit period.
“The general vehicles’ entry will not be allowed during the route movements,” the police stated.
Vehicles that are not destined for Delhi will be diverted to the Eastern and Western Peripheral Expressways and other designated alternate routes. Such vehicles will not be permitted to enter the national capital during the summit period.
Passengers travelling to Indira Gandhi International Airport have been advised to use NH-48 and the Sector-22 Dwarka Tunnel. Railway passengers heading to New Delhi, Old Delhi or Hazrat Nizamuddin stations are encouraged to use Ring Road, Ashram Chowk and Vande Mataram Marg. Vehicles not bound for Delhi will be diverted to the Eastern and Western Peripheral Expressways.
In view of the anticipated traffic regulations, motorists have also been encouraged to use Metro services for travel to airport terminals. Additionally, buses may be diverted as required during VVIP movements to ensure security and smooth traffic management.
The advisory noted that the measures are aimed at facilitating “smooth and hassle-free movement of all modes of transport” while maintaining ease of travel for the general public during the summit period.
“Essential services, including medical emergency vehicles, will be provided with uninterrupted access with priority passage. The general public will be facilitated through designated alternate routes and transport modes,” the advisory stated.
The advisory coincides with the commencement of CBSE Class 10 and 12 board examinations from February 17, with over 46 lakh students appearing across India and 26 countries.
Delhi Police said it has coordinated with the Education and Transport Departments to ensure smooth access to examination centres, particularly for around 10 schools located along VIP routes. Field officers have been sensitised to assist students and parents, and candidates carrying valid admit cards or date sheets will be facilitated in regulated zones.
Students must reach centres by 10 AM for a 10:30 AM start, and passes are being facilitated through school principals to allow transport through restricted zones.
Commuters are urged to keep buffer time in their travel plans, especially during peak hours and VIP movements.
Meanwhile, the New Delhi Municipal Council has activated an Integrated Command and Control Centre, described as the “third eye,” to monitor the area round-the-clock through more than 730 CCTV cameras integrated from multiple agencies.
