A woman was seen using an electric kettle inside a train coach, and the video has raised safety concerns online. The clip, recorded by a co-passenger, shows her sitting on a lower berth with the kettle plugged
into a socket inside the compartment. It is being claimed that she was preparing tea during the journey.
The visuals have sparked debate as electric kettles are high-wattage appliances and are not meant to be used inside train coaches, where power sockets are primarily meant for charging small electronic devices.
Woman Uses Electric Kettle Inside Train, Co-Passengers Remain Silent
In the short video shared on X (formerly Twitter), the woman appears relaxed as the kettle operates beside her. Other passengers in the coach are seen around her, but no one intervenes or objects.
The caption of the post tagged Railway Seva and the Ministry of Railways warned about the possible danger. It read, “People are not aware that using an electric kettle inside a train can cause a short circuit and can lead to a fire incident. Please run an awareness campaign about it.”

Social Media Users Demand Strict Action, Not Just Awareness
The video drew sharp reactions from several users who criticised the act and called for penalties.
One user commented, “Using kettles is already banned on trains precisely because of fire/short-circuit risks. Awareness exists, it’s just that some passengers ignore the rules. Enforce, don’t just campaign.”
Another said, “It doesn’t need an awareness campaign. It needs a mass casualty to let these people teach some civil sense.”
“Such people should be fined heavily,” a person demanded, while someone else remarked, “Indians can only get a degree, not manners and common sense.”
“Awareness campaigns India mein kaam nahi karte. Laato ke bhoot baato se nahi maante. Jaan leva kaam hai ye, seedha jail honi chaiye (Awareness campaigns do not work in India. Some people only understand strict action, not words. This is life-threatening and should directly lead to jail,” a viewer wrote.
An individual sarcastically commented, “They seem to have made it their home in their night suit and kettle. Won’t be surprised if they even go for a shower as well.”
“People know everything, but they don’t accept it. Because they think the loss will only be the railway’s, not theirs. But the truth is that if a short circuit happens, the loss won’t just be the system’s, it could be a lot for them too,” read another comment.
Railway Seva Seeks Details For Immediate Action

A similar incident had surfaced in November last year when a woman was seen using an electric kettle to cook Maggi during her train journey. At that time, Central Railway officials had taken action.
