Kapil Sharma, who is currently charming audiences on The Great Indian Kapil Show, once shared the sweet story of how his relationship with wife Ginni Chatrath began. Their journey started back in their
college days in Punjab, where Kapil was already a senior and an active member of the theatre circuit.
Ginni, a student from a nearby girls’ college, would take part in inter-college drama competitions. It was during these events that their paths first crossed. Bonding over their shared passion for theatre, their friendship blossomed during long rehearsal hours.
Kapil has often spoken about how they belonged to completely different backgrounds. While Ginni came from a well-off family, he was from a middle-class home. He even once admitted, “I never thought she would ever see me as more than a friend.”
How Laughter And Small Gestures Built the Bond
Kapil Sharma credits his sense of humour for helping him build a deeper connection with Ginni. He revealed that during rehearsals and casual conversations, he would always try to make her laugh.
Over time, this humour helped lay the foundation of their friendship and trust. He also shared a sweet memory of how Ginni Chatrath used to bring him home-cooked food, which became one of the early signs of their growing bond. “She used to bring food from home, and I’d eat most of it,” Kapil Sharma had said as quoted by The Times of India, showing how even small gestures meant a lot in those early days.
From College Friends To Life Partners
Their friendship turned into a lasting relationship, and the two got married in December 2018 in a grand ceremony in Jalandhar, Punjab. The wedding was attended by close friends, family, and several well-known faces from the entertainment world.
Today, they are proud parents to two children, daughter Anayra Sharma and son Trishaan Sharma.
Kapil Sharma’s Upcoming Projects
On the professional front, Kapil Sharma is currently hosting the third season of The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix. He is also working on the sequel to his 2015 film Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon, and even shared the first look of the movie earlier this year on Eid.
