123 Telugu has reported that Rana Daggubati is set to headline an ambitious historical thriller set against the mystical backdrop of Ujjain. And Akshay Kumar has also joined the cast. The makers are also keeping a major surprise under wraps, with rumours of a top hero’s cameo expected. Well, nothing is made official till now.
Backing this large-scale project is Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, ensuring a grand pan-Indian canvas. The film will be directed by Chandoo Mondeti, who earned nationwide acclaim with Karthikeya 2 and is known for weaving stories around ancient mysteries.
Akshay Kumar’s work front
The actor is currently seen in a horror comedy, Bhooth Bangla. The film also stars Tabu and Wamiqa Gabbi. It has been doing well at the box office. News18 Showsha gave the horror comedy 2.5 stars, and a part of the review reads, “The jump scares do work occasionally. Sticking to the current timeline would’ve probably helped the story remain a contained telling of horror and comedy. But the time travel in the second half is far too elaborate and distracting. The triangle between Akshay, Tabu, and Jisshu Sengupta is a rather weak arc—not compelling enough and not nearly aesthetic. It tries to resurrect old-school comedy but ends up feeling loud, exaggerated, and backdated.”
