Dubai has launched its first ‘Work From Park’ facility at Al Barsha Pond Park, offering professionals an alternative to conventional office spaces. The facility features free outdoor seating areas where
visitors can work without reservations, alongside paid indoor co-working spaces, meeting rooms and private offices.
Inaugurated on Monday, November 2, the facility was launched by Dubai Municipality in collaboration with flexible workspace platform Letswork and construction company Group AMANA, according to Gulf News. The project aims to transform public parks into spaces where people can combine their professional commitments with recreation and social activities.
One of the biggest attractions of the facility is its free outdoor working area. Visitors can bring their laptops and settle into designated seating spaces, including a pergola and rooftop areas, without paying any fees or making prior reservations.
“Outside is completely free for people to just come, sit and work,” Omar Al Mheiri, co-founder and CTO of Letswork, told Gulf News.
The outdoor sections will also be equipped with internet connectivity and power sockets, making it easier for people to work without having to book an indoor desk. Mohannad Al-Omari, business development manager at Group AMANA, said these facilities would help visitors make use of the open spaces while remaining connected.
However, Dubai’s soaring summer temperatures could pose a challenge to the outdoor working arrangement. Discussions are reportedly underway regarding possible cooling solutions and weather-resistant furniture to make the spaces more comfortable throughout the year.
What Are The Charges For Indoor Workspaces?
For those who prefer an air-conditioned environment, the facility has indoor co-working spaces, meeting rooms and private offices. The centre operates between 8 am and 8 pm and is divided into three sections to accommodate different professional requirements.
The co-working zone can accommodate up to 30 people, with day passes starting at Dh50. The fee includes complimentary coffee, Wi-Fi access and charging facilities.
Those looking for a quieter setting for discussions or professional meetings can book either of the two available meeting rooms. Each room can accommodate up to nine people, with hourly bookings starting at Dh200. Depending on the duration of the reservation, the charges can go up to Dh1,200.
The third section, known as Workspace Suites, caters to professionals seeking a more permanent arrangement. It offers fixed desks and private offices that can be booked for periods ranging from one month to a year.
Interested visitors can reserve their preferred workspaces through the Letswork website, its mobile application or WhatsApp at 04 581 3652.
Dubai Wants Professionals To Connect Beyond Their Screens
Beyond providing an alternative workplace, the initiative also focuses on building a community where professionals can interact, network and participate in recreational activities.
The idea is to encourage people who usually connect through professional networking platforms to meet in person. “We’re trying to pull people from LinkedIn to actually meet at these spaces,” Al Mheiri said.
The facility is also expected to host community gatherings and activities, with proposed plans including running clubs, football and tennis sessions. Families can also make use of the arrangement, as parents will be able to bring their children to the park while attending to their professional responsibilities.
More ‘Work From Park’ Facilities Could Come Up Across Dubai
The project features five modular buildings that were largely constructed off-site, helping authorities complete the development in less than three months.
According to the Emirates News Agency, the initiative is part of Dubai Municipality’s broader efforts to turn public parks into multifunctional community destinations rather than spaces used only for leisure and recreation.
For now, officials are collecting feedback from visitors to understand how the facility is being received and whether any improvements are required. The response will also help determine the possibility of introducing similar work-from-park facilities at other public parks across Dubai.
If expanded, the concept could offer professionals another flexible working arrangement, allowing them to step away from traditional office environments without compromising on essential workplace facilities.
